The Tomb Raider video game franchise has always been one of the most successful adventure games ever. The first game in the series was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1997. Since then, the Tomb Raider series has been featured in many other forms of media including movies and television shows. The latest release in the series is The tomb raider movie. While it may not live up to the excellent writing and quality of the first game, it does continue the tale of the main protagonist and delves into some interesting plot developments that are well-written and delivered in a thrilling action scene.
Based on the original pen-name of writer Paul Dano, the movie takes place twenty years after the events of the first Tomb Raider game. Now that Lara has grown and become a seasoned adventure heroine, she’s asked to help save the world again. Along with a new sidekick and friend, she must traverse through the dangerous island paradise called Mars in order to find and recruit a new batch of Tomb Raiders to do her part in completing her long journey. Although the story and game play may seem generic and unoriginal, I found that I personally connected with the female character and story more than I did with the storyline, which is often Square Enix’s strongest point.
The new Tomb raider movie looks to be an extremely promising project. With the brilliant writing and direction of writers Chris Carpenter and Jenny Beyer, the new Tomb raider movie seems to have the ability to rise above the mediocre with a successful third installment. I expect this movie to maintain the high standards of the first draft and deliver a strong action-adventure that fans of the Tomb Raider series will thoroughly enjoy.
If I had to make a guess, I would say that the new Tomb raider movie is in the pre-production stage, but is not quite done filming. There are still many loose ends to wrap up, and many other issues that need to be addressed before principal photography can take place. I wouldn’t be surprised if the film wasn’t done in time for a Christmas special, but I am expecting at least part of the film to be shot during the summer. With the success of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and the positive response it received, I feel that producers are optimistic about making a new Tomb raider movie. I can only wait and see what they come up with.
The new Tomb raider movie sequel is not officially confirmed as such, but I have heard that there are talks of an animated project from Yahoo! Animation. I have no idea if that will be the final product, but it sure sounds exciting! I’m just as pumped as everyone else is about this, but at the end of the day, it will just have to remain a rumor until someone takes the bat and calls it a day.
A Tomb raider video game has been in development for awhile, but it never came to pass. That is probably for a variety of reasons. Mainly it just didn’t have enough money behind it to make a worthwhile movie. That being said, it will most likely be working title at this point. We’ll keep our eyes open for news on this one. Who knows, maybe the next “Tomb Raider” video game will have us jumping for joy, instead of wishing that we had gotten a new video game!

Video games are becoming more realistic, and there are more ways for players to interact with the characters in a video game. If a game is well-designed, it can lead to multiple movies and TV shows. Who knows, it may even lead to a new generation of gaming!
